#6 Top Tips to Break Up With Your Diet- Stop Talking About Diets & Body Bashing with Friends

Let’s do lunch AND, please, hold the body bashing, sharing how “bad” you have been and talk about how “good” you will be tomorrow.

Tip #6 is to Stop Gathering With Your Friends and Talking About Diets and Body Bashing. It’s time to bond around topics that lift you all up and empower each of you.

It is difficult to respect your body when you constantly berate yourself for looking the wrong way. This seemingly innocent banter perpetuates weight stigma, which causes harm to our physical, mental, and emotional health. Every time you focus on your “imperfect” body parts (and we are All “Imperfectly Perfect”), it creates more self-consciousness and body dissatisfaction.

Top Tip # 6 to Body Peace & Food Freedom: Stop Gathering With Friends to Talk About Diets & Body Bash

If you are willing, take a few minutes and think about the last time you met with the “girls” and how much of the talk focused on somebodies body, diet, or food plan.

What can you do? Shift the focus from what you don’t like about your body to your relationship with your body and how you can improve it by speaking kindly to yourself.

When we talk kindly to ourselves, we have to use believable words. We both know you can’t will ourselves to love your body and instantly have peace in your head.

Start with baby steps and statements that you can say and believe:

  • I love that I can hold hands with someone I love (body size is irrelevant)

  • I am grateful that my feet allow me to walk (body size is irrelevant)

  • I am thankful that my eyes will enable me to see the beauty around me (body size is irrelevant)

Do nice things for your body, such as rubbing lotion on your skin, getting a mini massage, take a minute to be and breathe. View your body as an instrument, not an ornament; what can your body do versus how it appears?

Together, one small step at a time, we need to change our conversation to topics that lead you to Body Peace & Food Freedom.

We are all more than our bodies!
